artrageous logoARTrageous is committed to making the Arts an integral part of our young people's lives through education. By securing funds through our greater Longview community, the Arts will be promoted as a foundation for life-long learning.

If you would like to help ARTrageous sponsor any of these programs or future Arts-in-education events, please contact Claudine Giffin at giffincm@mac.com or Tempe Kirby at tempek@cablelynx.com.

It is with your help that ARTrageous can continue to offer our children ways to find connections with the world and each other as well as expand their horizons through the many facets of the Arts.

*As part of the 2007/2008 Season, The Spring Hill ARTrageous Group is pleased to present Kweku Codrington, African Percusionist to our Primary Students on March 7th for two performances 8:30 am and 9:30 am.

Kweku, originally from New York City, is a warm and gifted musician, teacher, and instrument maker. Kweku’s studies of native music, dance, and song have taken him several times to West Africa. Now, he takes students on their own African journey as they learn to play several West African instruments. Students explore themes of honor and respect for others as they learn about the relationship between music, family, and the duties of African children. Students learn to play traditional African instruments such as the aggo bell, shakrae, djun-djun, and the djembe.

Please encourage your children to share their West African Journey with you. If you would like to further explore this experience, study guide information is available at: http://www.yanetexas.org/sg_kweku.pdf.

Our primary source of funding comes from the selling of advertising space on the billboards located in the end zone of our football field. We owe a special thanks to Discount Tires, Watkins Insurance, Curtis Chiropractic, A/C Contractors, Spring Hill Bank, Peters Chevrolet, Dalton Lipsey Insurance, Vaca-Kirby Dental Group, Good Shepherd Medical Center, and FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes, this year's sponsors.

Our organization also works with the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, the Longview Symphony, the Longview Opera and Artsview to benefit our children and our community.
