From the Desk of the Principal:

TAKS TESTS are COMING!!!!

Thank goodness TAKS is just around the corner.  Our students and teachers are doing a great job of preparing, and I believe we will be very successful. As you know TAKS testing requires some unusual daily schedules. On Monday, April 28th, grades 10 and 11 will be taking the TAKS Social Studies test; on Tuesday, April 29th, grade 10 will take the Math TAKS test; on Wednesday, April 30th, grade 11 will be taking the Math TAKS test; and on May 1st, grade 9 will be taking the Math TAKS test, and grade 10 and 11 will be taking the Science TAKS test. It is a challenge for us to provide for those not being tested on those days, but Paige Childers as usual is prepared.

This has been a great spring so far. Our Academic team won the District Championship, and 27 members of our team advanced to the Regional Championships in Commerce. At Regional our Math/Science team won 1st place and advanced to State. Congratulations to Mrs. Gathright and Mrs. Bass and their students. The Number Sense Team of Michael Bass, Lisa Bass, Gary Duncan, and Adrian Parr advanced to State; the Calculator Team of Michael Bass, Lisa Bass, Gary Duncan, and Adrian Parr advanced to State. Michael Bass also won 2nd Place overall in Math and will advance to State.  Melissa Thompson placed 3rd in Accounting and will also be going to State. CONGRATULATIONS!!

As usual our athletic teams are doing very well. Our Girls Track team won District, our boys finished third, both the Boys and Girls Varsity and won District in Tennis, and both our Boys and Girls Golf teams won District. Our softball and baseball teams are in the hunt for playoff spots.

The school year is very quickly coming to an end. We need to really encourage our students to finish strong and do their very best during the last few weeks of school. The SENIORS are ready to graduate. They also need to be encouraged to finish strong and complete the job they started 13 years ago. I would like to add that it is a great honor for me to serve as your Principal.  If I can help you in any way please feel free to call me.

Bobby Watkins
