From the Desk of the Principal:

As many of you know the students at Spring Hill High School are putting together a great year. Both the boys and girls won the District Championship in Cross Country.  We also sent two students to State in Cross Country, Amber Moore and Gary Duncan. Amber finished 5th at State. Amber was named to the All-State Cross Country Team. We have a new theater teacher, Jennifer Pritchett, and they have just finished their first production which was outstanding.

The 2007/2008 AEIS report is out and Spring Hill High School received 6 Gold Performance Awards (2 more than last year). These awards represent outstanding achievement in the prescribed area. Our awards were as follows;

Gold Performance in

  • Number of Students taking Advanced Courses
  • Comparable Improvement in ELA
  • # of Students in Recommended Program & Distinguished Academic Program
  • Texas Success Initiative in Math

This is great information for the community to know that the students of the high school are getting a quality education. I would like to offer special congratulations to our faculty for the great work they have done to prepare our students for success!!  The year is going well, and I expect more good news from academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities in the near future.

We have a lot to be thankful for!!! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Whodunnit, a Huge Success!

submitted by Jennifer Pritchett
Whodunnit Cast
Spring Hill Theatre Dept. put on its first Mystery Dinner Theatre Saturday, Nov. 15 & Sunday, Nov. 16. The show and dinner was a hit! Audiences reveled in the festivities from the atmosphere as they walked in the doors to the delicious food prepared by Mrs. Coker's Home Economics department. Food preparation for WhodunnitThe menu consisted of appetizers such as vegetable stuffed mushrooms, tomato and bacon cups, sausage balls, and veggies with dip. The entrée was chicken spaghetti, green beans almandine, cranberry salad, and garlic bread, with a delectable dessert consisting of brownies and chocolate cake.

The Great High School Whodunnit, revolved around the murder of a security guard and the disappearance of a $3 million dollar ring. The audience watched the first act and went on clue hunt throughout the school to figure out "whodunnit." Then the killer was revealed in the second act.

The play was exciting, the food was delicious, and the clue hunt fun. It was definitely a night to remember.

Periodic Table Project
submitted by Allison Gillentine

periodic table elementsOn November 19th and 20th chemistry students in Mrs. Gillentine’s and Mrs. Gathright’s classes were working together to create a giant periodic table.  Three weeks ago students randomly drew one element from a bucket.  Students were then asked to create a CD case showcasing the elements atomic number, atomic mass, element symbol and other properties about the element.  Collectively these elements will be combined in the science wing for display.  Students received one test grade for this assignment in regular chemistry, and several lab grades in honors chemistry.
