Eleven members of the Spring Hill SkillsUSA chapter 2053 competed in the State SkillsUSA Welding Championships April 2nd-5th in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Every one of the students had to receive a 1st place at the district level to qualify to compete at the state level.  All 11 of the students got a First Place Superior rating on their welding projects that they carried to the competition.  Two of the projects were team projects that multiple students worked on.  Both team projects received first place trophies for the school.  Five of the students also received scholarships from Texas State Technical College for competing in the Welding and Precision Machining Skills competitions.  Besides competing, the students got to meet company representatives from the leading welding equipment suppliers in the welding industry. They also got to try out some of the new state of the art welding equipment that was on hand and being demonstrated at the skills competition that was held at the Craft Training Center of Corpus Christi.
