PAIGE CHILDERS

9th & 11th Grade Counselor

PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered in October of 2008 to help students prepare for the SAT.  The PSAT/NMSQT will have enhanced math content; there will also be changes to the verbal section, which will now be called “critical reading.”  The writing skills section of the PSAT/NMSQT will be essentially the same; an essay will not be added, as it will to the SAT.  ScoreWrite will be distributed to schools for essay practice.  For the latest information about the new PSAT/NMSQT and the new SAT, go to www.collegeboard.com.  The cost of the PSAT/NMSQT will be determined at a later date and the sign up sheet will be located on the counter in the office.  Juniors may qualify for National Merit Scholarships; sophomores are also encouraged to take the test.  See your counselor for more information.
