Updated 08/19/2010
Hi, I am Carrie Jones, and I am looking forward to
teaching each and every one of your children this year. Below is a copy of my syllabus.
Please call me anytime with questions or concerns about your child. I am a mom
of three and will try to treat your child as if he/she were my own. I teach
because I love people, kids especially. They are our future. Thanks in advance
for sharing your child with me and entrusting them to my care. I will do my
best to teach them everything they need to know!!
Parents of Algebra II students: please purchase
your child a TI 83 or TI84 graphing calculator!! All high school math students
will need one.
All Parents: Please check VSI weekly to keep
abreast of your child’s progress.
Expect a Progress report/report card each
3 weeks.

pen. Sharpen pencils before class.

Consequences:
Students who misbehave will be
asked to sign a referral for their first infraction. The second infraction will
result in a parent being called and signing the referral a second time. The
third time a student misbehaves he/she will be sent to
the office. This is a campus wide policy. I
will not loan calculators. If you don’t bring one, you will have to do without
even if it is a test.
Homework:
Honors-Homework will be 1/4 of
a student’s average. Regular- Homework will be 1/3 of a student’s average. Some
work will be due at the end of class.
Some will be due for homework the next class day unless otherwise
informed. No late work will be accepted.
I will drop one or two daily grades instead. Homework heading should
look like this:
Name
(5 pts.) Date
(5 Pts.)
Assignment (5 Pts.)
(If late or makeup,
write it here)
Honors-Tests will count 3/4
of a student’s average. Regular-Tests will count 2/3 of a student’s average.
Retests will not be given. Corrections may sometimes be offered to earn back
25% of points lost. Corrections are to be done during tutorials before and
after school. They must be done on a clean piece of paper, show work, and work
must be correct. You have 1 week to correct tests.
If you have been absent, have
your blue slip when you enter class. Work and tests assigned before an absence
will be due the date the student returns.
Any work missed can be made up in +3 days (example: 1 class day missed =
3 days to makeup, 4 class days missed = 7 days to makeup.) It is your
responsibility to find out what work you missed and make in up in the time
given. Check online for missed assignments.
Tardies:
An unexcused tardy (no note)
will be turned into the office. The first two tardies
will be warnings by the teacher. Third tardy is a referral and 1 day d hall,
