English: We journal and do a grammar warm-up activity everyday. We will be tackling grammar basics a lot during the first few six weeks. This is essential in order to edit our writing properly. There will be some writing assignments in addition to the daily journaling.

Great things to put in your writing are:

The 5 Senses (see, smell, hear, taste, touch)

Figurative Language (such as similes, onomatopoeias, alliteration, etc.)

Organized Ideas with your thoughts and emotions

We will work on the following skills in this order:

Verbs (Action, Helping, & Linking)

Subject-Verb Agreement

Commas in a Series

Irregular Verbs

Contractions

Spelling: Your take home spelling folder has every list that we will work with for the entire year. We do one unit per week. On Monday we usually pretest*, have spelling assignments on Tuesday and Wednesdays, and test on Thursday.

*If you may a 100 on the pretest you do not have to take the test on Thursday.

Spelligcity.com is a great place to practice your spelling words with interactive games.
