Welcome to my page!!

Week of Jan. 8-12

Welcome back!! I hope everyone had a restful break. Now they we have rested, it is time to get back to work!! TAKS is coming close and we have a lot to do.

In the classroom, we will be studying about penguins. We also have an incubator with 17 eggs!! Our scheduled due date for the chicks to hatch is January 30^th. If anyone knows somebody that will want to take the chicks once they have hatched, let me know. They will need a home.

I will be sending home a note about a penguin project this week. It will be due on February 9^th.

Continue working on math facts for multiplication. This is sooo important! The TAKS test has math problems on it that requires the students to have mastered their facts. The more they know the better they can manipulate the problems!

Spelling/dictation/vocabulary test on Friday, January 12th.

TAKS packets are due on Friday, January 12th. Please make sure your child is completing these by Friday of each week. Panther bucks are given to each student if they are completed and signed.

In class:

Math- Ch. 13

Reading- We will be reading the book Mr. Popper's Penguins. Several reading skills will be used during this novel unit. The students will be working in groups and by themselves.

Spelling- waddle, flippers, survival, colony, waterproof, chick, molting, species, krill, tobogganing, rookery, predators, brood pouch, huddling, incubation
