My name is Kristopher W. Wardlaw, and I am the language arts,
reading, and math resource teacher. I
am looking forward to an exciting, productive year working with you and your
child. It is my firm belief that your child
will receive the best education possible when you and I work together as a
team. As you know, your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
developed at ARD Committee meetings that guides his or her specific learning
needs. Therefore, I am committed to
the importance of parent involvement in achieving the educational goals for
our students. Attached to this letter are copies of
my classroom rules, discipline plan, homework policy, etc. Please read and discuss them with your
child. They explain many of the
expectations that I have for your child in my class. I need your support of these expectations,
and I need you to let your child know that you support these classroom
standards and expectations. It is my goal to keep in touch with
you this year. Please do the same with
me. I welcome your calls and
emails. Anytime you have something
that you would like to discuss with me please call the school office at (903)
323-7708 or email me at kwardlaw@springhill.esc7.net. My conference time is
from 1:48 pm - 2:15pm. I look forward to our teamwork
relationship that will help your child succeed in my class. It’s going to be a wonderful year, and I am
excited about having the opportunity to work with you and your child.
Sincerely, Kristopher
W. Wardlaw Class Rules
Be on Time. Come Prepared
(Pencil, paper, homework, etc.). Keep your
hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. Throw all trash
in the wastebasket and pick up after oneself. Treat others
how you want them to treat you! Discipline Policy
Students will
be expected to follow all class rules and any school policy found in the
Spring Hill Student Handbook. Breaking
of one of the rules will result in first a verbal warning then a sign-in on
the behavioral infraction log. Four
sign-ins on the infraction log will result in one day of detention. Detention
is typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:00. Any
disciplinary actions above and beyond this will depend on your child’s
behavior intervention plan. Student Reward System
In my class, we
will be using a form of reward system in which the students will be able to
earn play money, called WAR BILLS that can be used at a redemption store that
will be held at the every three weeks.
Money can be given or taken away for good behavior, grades, or any other
activity at teacher discretion. Homework Policy
The students
will follow the same homework policy as their other 5th or 6th
grade classes. However, I do not take
off points for day-late assignments.
Homework may or not be assigned every night depending on the needs of
the subject area. Any class-work not
completed in class or missed due to an absence will be assigned as homework
and should be in the next day. Grading Policy
Students will
receive two forms of grades that will count equally toward the final six
weeks grade. Daily work grades will
consist of class work, homework, and participation in assignments that relate
directly to your child’s IEP goals.
Major test grades will consist of projects and exams that will be
given at the end of each unit. All
assignments may vary from student to student depending upon their educational
needs addressed on their IEP. |
