Galloping Through Our Week

Reading

The students will use a variety of strategies to comprehend selections read aloud and selections read independently.

The students will make and explain inferences from texts such as determining important ideas and causes and effects.

The students will compose original texts using conventions of written language such as capitalization and penmanship to communicate clearly.

 We will be working on writing a legend. We will use a story map to help us with the assignment.

We will continue to use various story maps this six weeks.

 

 

 

 

Spelling Week 5th six weeks

A handwriting grade will be given on each dictation test. Your child will be graded not only on the spelling of each word, but also capitalization and punctuation

 

Math

Fact Test each Friday - mixed (addition and subtraction)

 

In Unit 8 we will be exploring multiplication and division through the use of real-world multiplicative scenarios.

These concepts will be developed with concrete objects in order to develop the conceptual understanding needed to solve and record multiplication and division problems in third grade.

 

 

Science/Social Studies We will be talking about our country's heroes. Each child will write a report about a hero.

 

Writing: We will practice writing imaginary narrative stories. 

Please check your child’s green folder each Thursday. This folder contains graded papers and a weekly conduct grade. It is very important for you to sign this folder each week.

 Please make sure your child is reading each night.
